Let's Practice /r/

The phonetic sound /r/ is a voiced liquid palatal.

voiced = vocal cords vibrate while making this sound

liquid palatal = the tip of your tongue should point up, but not touch anything. At the same time, the back of your tongue should touch the sides of your upper teeth- use vocal cords to make sound over the sides of your tongue.

middle /r/ sounds like: carry, story, every, around, different, American

final /r/ sounds like: far, later, hear, or, where, more

/r/ in consonant clusters: start, hard, group, tree, three, learn
